Areas under lockdown included Venice and Milan, Italy’s financial hub. The extraordinary measures will remain in place until April 3, officials said. Tourists in the region, including those from abroad, were free to head home, Italian transport ministry officials said, noting that airports and train stations remained open.

Most folks that are infected with this virus will have a mild disease — won't need to come to the hospital, won't have to be admitted, Diaz said.
